Errol and I (and 3 other couples from AWW) attended the Mayor's Cultural Gala tonight .. in the end it was pretty good. Good food (5 courses .. and poutine was included!), open bar and decent entertainment.

I was out all day and when I came home I found Nathan riding his bike with no training wheels on! .. I went in and asked Errol how long it took him to convince Nathan to take the training wheels off and he had no idea what I was talking about. Nathan took off the training wheels by himself and took off on his own!! Next up - a bigger bike

Drive up to the door a the airport, have the pilots greet you, have the pilots unload your car, walk into airport, walk out the other door, walk on plane. No check in, no security, it was sweet and we only had to be there 15 min before departure.

Today was the day of Nathan's birthday party for his school friends. I decided to do it now as we'll likely be away in August and he probably won't be seeing many of his school friends over the summer holidays anyways ..
There were 5 kids that came, and that was plenty. 3 boys with way too much energy and 2 girls that calmed things down a bit.

Nathan picked a pirate theme again (3rd year in a row) thankfully that was easy as I had everthing from last years party.

I also asked him what kind of cake he wanted .. rainbow it was.

I made wrappers for the areo bars.

I haven't been taking any pictures in the last week as there hasn't been anything to take pictures of. The weather has been beyond crappy so we haven't done anything exciting.

But today William and I decided to make Jello Popsicles. They're actually pretty good, and the best part is is that they don't drip. Lot's of t-shirts will be saved this summer!

Benjamin loves this chair, and now he can finally climb up into it. When he gets a hold of something that he knows he shouldn't have he looks at you, then he dashes for the chair in hopes that you won't be able to find him.
Today he found the empties that Errol had left a little to close to the edge of the counter.

Today was the circus for all the kindergarten kids at Nathan's school. They all had to dress up and they each performed 2 "acts".
Nathan was a pirate, cause you know every circus needs a pirate. And he acted in some sort of skit where he got to go and steal some sort of cloth from some princesses. Then he went and tried to climb the rope.
It was riveting I tell you.

I can't wait to ~~sit through~~ enjoy that with Williams class.

Today was parent/teacher interviews at Nathan's school today and it was also Nathan's first soccer game, so I went to see the teacher and Errol took the boys to the game. I found out that all the girls love Nathan and he has a set of twins fighting over him. The teacher would love to know what Nathan is thinking!, and he scored above average on 4 of the 5 tests the teacher did with him!!. But the first thing she had to ask me was "what is the name of Nathan's new friend, it can't possibly be what he is saying... is it?" that darn L gets put in there too many times.

A few things happened today ....

It was Easter and the boys went and searched for eggs.
I had placed their Egg Hunt bags in their room after they had gone to bed, and put 1 egg in each and then had some eggs leading from the bags to the door and then into our room, I wanted them to make sure we were awake before the started the hunt.
I heard Nathan wake up and heard him say something along the lines that "wow, the Easter Bunny really did come and bring us eggs). He came into our room and was all excited, but William wasn't around. I got up and went into their room and he had jumped back into bed and was eating all the eggs that were left in the room, he wasn't interested in looking for anymore.

Later that day it was time to make a birthday cake for Errol, the boys wanted a fish cake so the fish became Nemo

The it was time for Errol to open his gifts and eat the cake.

I had my final level 2 Wilton cake decorating class last night. For the last 3 weeks (well, 2 for me) we have been making flowers out of royal icing to place on our final cake.
We learnt how to do the basket weave, while it's kinda (but not really) neat I don't think I'll have much use for it...

Day 71 - 79 - Cruise Week

March 13- 21

Errol and I headed down to Miami on March 13 so we could board the Carnival Valor for a 7 night cruise. It was work related, and some work did happen but not as much as we had fun.

Here we are flying into Miami

March 14 - we left Miami this afternoon and boarded this cruise

March 15 - was a day at sea .. so we just spent time in the sun, eating and playing in the casino

March 16 - Grand Cayman

We went on an excursion, it involved a visit to Hell, a turtle farm, rum cake factory and then some swimming with the Stingrays (and I forgot my bathing suit and waterproof camera)

Hell - there are these interesting rock formations, made of coral and limestone

Turtle Farm - we got to hold some baby turtles

We then went to Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville, where I had the best margarita ever!

March 17 - Isle Roatan, Honduras

It was so hot and humid today, it was a bit much for me. We visited a park where we were told some history with pirates, went through a bird sanctuary, and went into monkey land (or so we thought)

We got into a bit of trouble on the way back, it was raining - really heavy, and the cars and some buses were having troubles getting up the hill (you'd think they'd have better tires there as they get on average 3 days of rain a week) A bus had slid off the road and tipped over (not something us tourists really needed to see) it took a while, but we made it up the hill and back on the ship safe and sound

Today we went hiking, crawling and zip lining through caves and the rain forest. It was an adventure.

Nothing exciting happened today, we took it easy and just walked around.

We had all day to spend in Miami, so we went on an excursion up to the Everglades. Here we went on one of those air boats and we cruised around looking for alligators and crocs.

Day 62 - March 3 - Spray Tanning and your feet

We are leaving next week on a Western Caribbean Cruise, I am beyond pasty white so I decided that I would try spray tanning, so I went last night to try it out. If the results are okay then I am going to do it again the day before we leave.

I was given a lot of instructions - put on a shower cap, but make sure it doesn't rest on your forehead or you'll have a funny line, but a bit of cream on the dry areas of your body, don't forget to put lots on your fingernails and toenails as the cuticles will get really dark if you don't, get your knees, elbows, and ankles .. but nothing was mentioned about the bottom of my feet (please ignore my horrible heals - the pedicure is next week)

We had our final cake class of the Wilton level 1 tonight .. The cake isn't great, but it surely beats out my previous 2 disasters.

I messed up the top part, and wasn't able to smooth it out properly (icing problems) and I should of smoothed out each dot, but I wasn't about to do that.

If I could skip the step of having to hook up my camera to my laptop and waiting for what seems like forever for the pictures to load, then I might actually be able to keep up with this daily. A slow computer is annoying.

It's winter, in Saskatchewan, and that explains why I haven't beent taking pictures everyday.

Back in October 2004 I joined a playgroup that the Saskatoon Health Region offered. It was a 10(ish) week program, There was about 10 mom's in the group and we would just get together 1x week at the Public Health office to chat, weigh our kids .. etc... it wasn't no Early Years Center, but back then I had no idea what that even was!

After the group was finished we all kept getting together almost weekly until many of the mom's had to go back to work, and then we still managed evening get togethers. In the end (that would be I had to move to Ontario) there were 4 of us that remained great friends and continued our get togethers on our own. I kept in contact with all of them while living in Acton, but the other 3 never seemed to be able to connect to meet up without me. Now that I am back we have gotten together a few times now. We've gone from a group of 4 moms and 4 kids to a group of 4 moms and 10 kids! (3 kid's are missing from this picture)

I was back to the cake decorating last night. What a joke. This cake looks like crap.

I wasn't paying attention when I was carrying it. The cake layers slipped apart and the chocolate icing mixed in with my white layer .. then when the time came to decorate it in class I really had no desire and that's why it looks like crap. But, it was good.

Day 57 - Feb 26

William likes to have oatmeal every.fricken.morning. Well, this morning he walked away from his bowl because "I need to get my big hammer". Benjamin was fast and noticed the bowl being within his reach.
